DUET at WAGSTAFFE - Tamara & Elena

Event description

A first on the Central Coast, The Bouddi Society presents celebrated ABC Classic DUET host and ARIA award-winning pianist, Tamara-Anna Cislowska with world-renowned composer and pianist, Elena Kats-Chernin AO - in concert at the piano at Wagstaffe Hall.

Prepare to be transported from Wagstaffe Hall on a magical journey through the music of Elena Kats-Chernin, through the worlds of tango, ballet, ragtime and classical, with threads of folkmusic woven through. It's unlike anything else you'll hear live, and will undoubtedly be an afternoon to remember.

Described by Limelight Magazine as: "A true dream team... dazzling... Fasten your seatbelts and hold on" - this is a rare chance to hear one of Australia's leading composers performing her vibrant music live, which has featured at the Sydney Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup, and on iView.
With nearly 8 million streams on Spotify alone and ten ARIA no.1 albums for ABC Classics, Deutsche Grammophon and Naxos, Tamara is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most globally recognised pianists in classical music today, hailed by BBC Music Magazine as "Australian piano gold".

Transfixing and addictive to watch, the synergy of these two world-class artists together at the piano brings a whole new dimension to what a piano concert can be: with no prior knowledge required, enjoy insights into this exciting and moving music, and the cheeky humour of these long-time collaborators, whose projects include chart-topping albums, major works for orchestra and piano and most recently, Human Waves, commissioned by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs for its centenary celebrations and premiered to a sold-out Sydney Opera House in 2023.

This is an event the Society has been waiting to present since before COVID and will now bring to our area on Sunday, 9 June, at 2:00 pm at Wagstaffe Hall. Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of musical brilliance, accompanied by wine, refreshments, and delectable nibbles.
