Event description

The Duncan Gardiner Composition Competition Concert

This concert event features a concert of world premiere performances of nine works for guitar ensemble submitted as part of the Duncan Gardiner Memorial Guitar Ensemble Composition Competition 2024.  At the conclusion of the performance, the winner will be chosen by a panel of live adjudicators.

The nine new works are:

  • Nyinggulu by Alison Skaratt
  • Herdsman Lake by Simone Lobbia
  • Drive from Tom Price by Tara Lynam
  • Bushfire & Flood by Clive Lane
  • Please, Please Rain by Robin Thomson
  • Nyinggulu by John Ralph
  • The Catalpa Rescue by Clive Lane
  • Pilbara Strike 1946 by Florence Lingayne
  • Skylab by Christopher James

These works will be performed by the Classical Guitar Society Orchestra, conducted by Jane Darcey.  There will also be a cameo performance by the Guitar Society Training Orchestra conducted by Peter Altmeir-Mort.
