Dung Beetle Workshop
Event description
Join Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare & Ecolnsects for a Dung Beetle workshop and informative paddock walk on Friday 1st November from 10am to 3pm.
Dung beetles are ecosystem engineers that will remove dung from the surface, recycle nutrients back into the soil, sequester carbon, reduce nutrient run off and reduce pests and parasites. Russ Barrow from Ecolnsects will be presenting at this workshop; answering your questions about dung beetles and demonstrating ways to breed them on your property. You will learn how to identify dung beetles, learn which species are suitable for your farm, learn how to protect beetle populations from the effects of natural disasters and drought and learn how to build a nursery to support healthy dung beetle populations.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided and for those that would like to hang around after the workshop is completed, Villa d'Esta Vineyard will be putting on a wine tasting for attendees.
This is a licensed venue therefore not suitable for children. Plenty of all weather access parking is available on site. The event does include a paddock walk please wear appropriate enclosed footwear. This component of the event will cover uneven terrain which will not be suitable for people with limited mobility.
If you have any questions please contact Local Landcare Coordinator Jonathon Quaken at inland@midcoast2tops.org.au.
