Event description

Join us in welcoming the passionate refugee advocate Muzafar Ali as we screen his documentary film, The Staging Post, followed by a Q & A with with him and the director. Order your dinner and eat following the screening.

Muzafar is cycling 4000 km from Maleny in Queensland to Adelaide to raise money for educational programmes for women and girls in Afghanistan and refugee education in Indonesia and Thailand.

Muzafar Ali is an Afghan Hazara photographer, who left Afghanistan after the Taliban targeted his family. He ended up in Indonesia with almost 10,000 stateless Afghans. In 2014 Muzafar co-founded the Cisarua Refugee Learning Centre, the first refugee-led school in Indonesia, with just $200 and two small classrooms. Cisarua Learning now supports over 2,000 refugee students across seven initiatives.

Learn more about how refugee-led education can transform lives and help support Cisarua Learning by attending this event.

Be part of a movement redefining what’s possible when refugees lead the way.
