Event description

What’s the real story behind Peter Dutton’s proposal to build seven nuclear power plants as his solution to Australia’s climate change emergency?

We’re lucky to have Professor Ian Lowe AO to answer that question for us.

Professor Lowe is a regular visitor to our part of the world and has agreed to conduct a free public forum on the Coalition’s nuclear policy announcements at the Aldinga Community Centre in early February.

Professor Ian Lowe AO is an Emeritus Professor of Science, Technology and Society and former Head of the School of Science at Griffith University. He is also an adjunct professor at Sunshine Coast University.

Professor Lowe has authored or co-authored 16 books, 10 Open University books, more than 50 book chapters and over 500 other publications. Books by Lowe include A Big Fix, Reaction Time, Living in the Hothouse, Why vs Why: Nuclear Power, A Voice of Reason: Reflections on Australia, Bigger or Better? Australia's Population Debate, The Lucky Country? Reinventing Australia and Long Half-life: The Nuclear Industry in Australia.

If you want to know more about the pros and cons of Australia heading down the nuclear path, this is a rare opportunity to get the facts from a recognised authority on the subject.
