Friday 27 November 7.30pm to 10.00pm Occupation Native

Saturday 28 November 7.30pm to 10.00pm In My Blood It Runs

Duuwa Inc invites you to a weekend of film, raising cultural awareness and binging unity and truth telling to community.

Let's move forward together to witness, discuss, and decolonise.

Our night begins with a smoking ceremony and welcome to country, followed by a delicious selection of curries (butter chicken, vegan spinach and pumpkin, beef massaman) and chai (vegan option provided) to enjoy together, before the screening of the film in the beautiful hall. After the film we all gather around the fire for a community discussion, sharing our feelings about the film and what we've learned.

Please bring warm clothes and a blanket if you wish, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Occupation Native
'In this country, the Aboriginal story is often buried deep beneath the
accepted 247-year Australian historical narrative. It’s not that the
Australian story is wrong, it’s just that it’s a wee bit one sided.
Getting all historical, Aboriginal filmmaker Trisha Morton-Thomas, bites
back at Australian history.'
(Screen Australia)

In My Blood it Runs
An intimate and compassionate observational documentary
from the perspective of a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy in Alice Springs,
Australia, struggling to balance his traditional Arrernte/Garrwa
upbringing with a state education.
