Community Sit: Generosity and the Meaning of Merit: An Afternoon of Practice and Service with Jamie Roberts
Description
Step away from the dukkha of Black Friday weekend to connect with Dhamma friends for a warm afternoon of practice, service and comradery.
During our time together, we will meditate, reflect upon the meanings of generosity and merit and participate together on a project to benefit Philadelphians experiencing housing insecurity.
As a community, we will assemble dignity packs filled with hygiene supplies. There is also the optional opportunity to donate and organize gently used clothes suitable for job interviews, period products and baby supplies. Please click on this link to sign up to donate items for the dignity packs we will offer the women and children at the Drueding Center. Please remember that it doesn’t matter if you sign up to bring a single item or a dozen. Generosity can’t be quantified. If a material donation is not right for you right now, please know your time and presence is also a gift. We are just trying to get a good idea of how many packs we can put together and what supplies we might need to supplement.
