Dyeing and Printing with Rust and Tannin Workshop - WED 2nd Apr 2025

Discover the alluring interplay of earthy colours and textures of rust and the luscious dark tones of tannins.Â
These two elements have played a central role in my practice as a textile and visual artist. I'm excited to show you how versatile rust and tannin applications can be. In this workshop you will learn:
- How to prepare your fabrics prior to printing and dyeing
- What is rust and tannin and how do they interact with each other
- Printing with rustÂ
- Dyeing with rust
- Ecoprinting with iron mordanted cloth
- Tannin application in dyeing and ecoprintingÂ
The ingredients used in this workshop are naturally derived and non-toxic.
All materials will be provided. Please bring with you:
- enclosed nonslip footwearÂ
- 2 old towels
- glovesÂ
- mask
- your own water and refreshment
Free parking is available along Blinco Street.Â
Entry via the ramp and you'll see the ornate iron gate. Proceed down the hallway towards the main hall where the workshop will take place.Â
Beverages and meals can be ordered at Hinata Cafe onsite.Â

If you are unable to attend the workshop, it is your responsibility to arrange someone else to take your place.
