APRIL THEME: Autistic Students & The Power of Entrepreneurial Education

Offering entrepreneurial education in a tailored way for students with seen and unseen disabilities to realise their own ambitions and goals using the vehicle of social entrepreneurship is critical to supporting students to thrive at school and beyond. It represents a different way to engage them in their passions, learning, mindset, skillset, and toolset development to leverage into employment or create their own!

Guest Thought Leader:

Niki Welz from Autism South Australia, the oldest organisation in Australia specifically dedicated to autism. As the SA autism peak body and a service provider, Autism SA offers a strong representative voice, aiming to influence at local, state, and national levels and provide services across all ages in various environments. Niki is a qualified Special Education Teacher with a dual degree in Philosophy, passionate about supporting young people living with autism to thrive in their education and beyond.

Guest Educator:

Marianna Mastrapasqua from Cardijn College, South Australia, is a lead teacher and passionate about educating and supporting students with disabilities. Marianna teachers within The Marist Centre on the Cardijn Campus, a nurturing environment for students with disabilities. As part of their approach, they offer programs and encourage their students to pursue their passions through social entrepreneurship.

2. Thought leadership: Niki Welz discusses Autism (autistic identity, educational context, and learning experiences), Educational Challenges for Autistic students and families and Strategic Priorities such as the Draft National Autism Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

3. Unconference: Mariana Mastrapasqua shares the Marist Centre journey, wins, current challenges, and/or future vision for social entrepreneurship for students with disabilities

4. Networking with educators across the country with provocations linked to the thought leadership on our April Theme

5. Event announcements and save the dates

Purpose: knowledge sharing, problem-solving, celebrating, thought leadership, professional development, and community creation

After each session, attendees will receive a professional development certificate from Young Change Agents recognising your attendance and professional development time and topics to contribute towards your mandatory professional learning hours.

What is E3?

Based on the success of our 2022 Entrepreneurial Educators Exchange (E3) and 2023 Leadership in-person events, we are excited to introduce regular events to facilitate networking and learning from educators and leaders across Australia. The Entrepreneurial Education Exchange (E3) is a community of practice for schools and the wider eco-system involved in introducing and embedding entrepreneurial education into Australian schools. As an emerging discipline, schools can share successes, challenges, and opportunities whilst advocating for wider support and recognition of the value of this type of education as one part of a wider approach.
