FAQs
- Why is a mental health service running a gaming competition?
Because we can...
For real though, young men are an under-represented group of people when it comes to accessing mental health services. What better way to softly introduce mental health to young boys than over FIFA?
That said, you don't need to be going through mental health concerns to come. This is for anyone. We want to use FIFA and gaming as a way of de-stigmatising mental health.
- Why is this event at Wandana Community Centre?
headspace Port Adelaide is under the lead agency of Centacare Catholic Community Services, who also oversee Wandana Community Centre. Wandana's Lighthouse Youth Hub space is a perfect host for this tournament and opens up accessibility to young people not just in Port Adelaide.
- Acessibility
The Youth Hub has a ramp for wheelchair users. There is also a sensory room available.
- Is there a cost?
No. This is completely free and includes free pizza and drinks. We'll ask you for any dietary requirements at checkout.
- What else is on at Wandana?
Our friends in the Reconnect program are baking cupcakes at Wandana too! If that's more your pace, click here to find out more: Sweet Designs FREE Workshop
