Early Practitioners Get-Together, July 2025
Event description
If you're looking at getting into a career in tech, or you're just getting started in your first or role, let us help you!
This event is designed to connect our student members and early stage tech practitioners with other tech folk who started out on their tech career journeys a few short years ago.
The knowledge sharing in the group will answer questions like 'what it's really like to work in tech?' and dispel a few myths along the way, with pizza provided! (Thanks to ChristchurchNZ for this!)
This is a great opportunity to build a network and meet others who can help you navigate career options, tell you what it's really like to work in the tech industry and what different jobs are out there (like data analytics, software engineering, project management, product marketing etc) and what they involve day to day.
We welcome Jordan Robinson from Elixir, and Yan Gong & Gavin Gilbert and
from Concentrate (plus others TBC) all who are happy to take your questions, give you insights from their own experiences and get to know you.
Come along as you are, no 'airs and graces' required, we welcome you all.
When: Tuesday 29th July 2025
Where: Epic Innovation, 100 Manchester Street, Christchurch Central City, Christchurch 8011
Event Outline:
4.00pm - Registration opens, networking, drinks and nibbles
4.30pm - Hear from different people in different tech jobs, with Q&A
5.30-6pm - Any pizza left? More eating and networking.
We hope this event (which is designed specifically for our student members) will provide you with great value and insights into your future career options and what to expect as you embark on working in tech businesses.
