Earth Altars
Description
Earth Altars is an intimate two-day ceramic workshop exploring grief, ritual, memory, and personal connection through the creation of handmade ceramic altars.
Facilitated by Highlands End-of-Life Project in collaboration with local ceramic artist Andrew Parker, participants will hand-build a small ceramic altar or shrine designed to hold candles, photographs, offerings, found objects, or other meaningful mementos.
Inspired by altar-making traditions from across cultures and histories, the workshop invites participants to engage with the enduring human impulse to create spaces of reverence, healing, and connection.
In contemporary life, opportunities for ritual, stillness, and shared reflection are increasingly uncommon. This workshop offers participants a gentle and creative space to slow down, honour personal experiences of grief and loss, and craft a meaningful object that can support ongoing connection and remembrance in their everyday lives.
The workshop will run over two consecutive half days from 9.30am - 1pm. Andrew will fire and finish the works, and they will be delivered to participants within a month. Morning tea will be provided.
