Event description

There is a long history of natural building methods for shelter and warmth across civilizations. These methods of building use locally sourced, non-toxic, natural materials with low carbon footprints and, being simple to implement, are widely accessible for people to use. These techniques have immense potential to help transform the building industry from a wasteful, carbon producing system into a sustainable, circular economic model utilising locally sourced materials, which resonate with our shared human experience, to produce carbon-sequestering buildings that are healthy to be around from construction through to demolition.

This workshop provides a detailed summary of natural building techniques, including technical dos-and-don’ts and practical demonstrations, as well as examples of natural building methods from historical use to present-day contemporary homes.
