About Earth Day

For 56 years, Earth Day has been bringing communities and organizations together to advocate for a healthier environment and a sustainable life. The first Earth Day on April 22, 1970 activated 20 million Americans from all walks of life to share their concerns about each citizen’s critical role in the environment. Their actions led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. Now over one billion people in 192 countries participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest civic observance in the world.

FAQs

  • Where do I park? Is it free?

Both the event and parking are free! We will have volunteers directing parking at two location: the OC Parks lot and the lot at the end of University Dr. However, parking is limited, so we encourage carpooling and arriving early!

  • What is there to do?

The event will have several exhibitors that bring live animals and family-friendly activities. There will be live music and food trucks to enjoy. Presentation will take place in the theater and may feature live animals, storytelling, and art in nature!

  • What time can I come?

The event is open house style, so guests can arrive anytime between 10am and 4pm.

  • What can I bring?

We recommend bring cash or card for food trucks and the gift shop. While exhibitors are not allowed to sell any items, there will be food available for purchase at the food trucks, as well as a gift shop located inside the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center.

  • Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are allowed on the trails and the outdoor patio but must be on a 6ft maximum leash at all times. Dogs are NOT permitted in the outdoor amphitheater where exhibitors have live animals or inside the interpretive center, this includes the bathrooms.
