Event description

Nestle into nature while we create with wild clay and natural fibres gathered locally.

In a small group you will create your own unique vessels from clay with a perforated edge to attach your weaving. In the second half of the workshop you will learn weaving techniques on a ceramic base Karen has created and fired early.

This workshop is 4 hours of creativity and relaxation. 2 hours of guidance with your hands in the clay along with 2 hours of weaving instruction where we’ll be joined by 2 extra local weaving enthusiasts who will share their skills and patience while you also enjoy complimentary locally produced tea or coffee and a treat.

1-3pm Sink your hands into clay and create 2 unique pieces to form the bases of your vessels which Karen will later kiln fire ready for you to collect and continue your creative weaving journey at home.

3-5pm  After your relaxing clay experience it’s then time to rehydrate with a cuppa together and settle in to the rhythm of weaving upon a ceramic base Karen has prepared and fired earlier.

On the day of the workshop you will take home the piece you have begun ( or perhaps finished ) weaving but eventually you’ll have 3 finished vessels made of a ceramic base and woven natural fibre top.  You may decide to decorate your weaving with shells, feathers or seed pods the possibilities are endless .
Allow 4 weeks for your clay pieces to be fired and ready for collection.
