Nightlife in a Suburban Sanctuary, starring the Eastern Quoll

SEE-Change Gungahlin invites you to come along and join us on a twilight walk through Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary. The eastern quoll is just one of a series of endangered species successfully reintroduced into Mulligans’ protected ecological community. Once abundant in south-eastern Australia, this pint-sized predator became extinct on the mainland, and now only persists in Tasmania and safe havens. Tonight, the eastern quoll will be the focus of our torchlight stroll through this fox-free, box-gum grassy woodland. Since eastern quolls are both cunning and cryptic, there will be no guarantee of seeing one – but rest assured that they will be seeing YOU! Eastern quolls are only one of the many native animals that can be found going about their business in Mulligans Flat after dark – there are also eastern bettongs, wallabies, sugar gliders, tawny frogmouths, and even bush stone-curlews! We are fortunate to have as our guide Belinda Wilson, our resident eastern quoll expert – who recently finished her PhD on their reintroduction to Mulligans Flat. She will search out their hidden places and give us new insights into the secret lifestyle of the eastern quoll and its neighbours.

Numbers are limited to 12: to make sure the group remains quiet and we have the best chance of seeing wildlife.
