Description

Learn about Australia's first Treaty and how we got here.

Last year, the State of Victoria signed the first Statewide Treaty with Victoria's First Peoples Assembly.

Treaty is something for all Victorians to be proud of. But did you know that right now, Treaty is under threat? The Liberal and National Parties, along with One Nation, have pledged to rip up Treaty if elected this November.

After a decade in the making, it is so important that the Statewide Treaty be upheld. Treaty should be above party politics - this is why Treaty education and these conversations are so important.

In the lead-up to the state election, there’s a role for everyone to celebrate and defend Treaty. At this community event in Ringwood, you'll have the chance to:

  • Hear from guest speakers from Gellung Warl about the journey to Treaty with First Peoples in Victoria and the difference Treaty is making

  • Learn how you can get involved. Together for Treaty have some great tips and resources to help you take meaningful action.

  • Get some free merchandise and informative materials to show your support for Treaty

This event is hosted by volunteers with Together for Treaty: an independent, non-partisan community campaign building momentum for truth and Treaties.
