ECC Funding Review Submission – Workshop
Description
The ECE Funding Review's Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) has started public consultation. Remember that is an independent group appointed by the Minister. The consultation period started this week and closes on 6 August
ECC is running a members-only webinar on 22 July to outline what the Ministerial Advisory Group is consulting on and share ECC's current thinking. This will be led by our ECC Steering Group on the funding review. To register for this webinar, please do so: here.
The consultation document is long at 66 pages, and it asks questions divided into eight different sections of potential areas of change:
Improving targeted funding (eg incl Equity Funding etc)
Fees Assistance (eg incl FamilyBoost and Childcare Subsidy)
Universal funding (eg improvements to 20 Hours or the Subsidies; and Homebased)
Funding band changes
Pay Parity (and Kindergartens)
Better information (incl fee schedules and ratios)
Simplification of the funding rules (incl attendance, financial reporting, monthly funding)
In each area there is a spectrum of options. The options are relatively high-level and MAG's analysis is broad-brush.
ECC is preparing its submission, which will be shared with members after the webinar. This in-person session for members in Wellington at 3pm on 30 July is to discuss the funding review, again led by ECC's Steering Group.
Remember - all submissions are due by 6 August.
