ECCAN Autumn Assembly 2026: ‘Many Communities, One Table’

Bringing Edinburgh together through food

Join ECCAN on Wednesday 11th November at Greyfriars Charteris Centre for a day of connection, learning and collaboration as we explore how food can bring people together across the city, create new routes into community action, and support more sustainable and resilient communities.

Through interactive workshops, facilitated networking and shared conversations, we’ll hear varied and inspiring examples from across Edinburgh and explore how individuals and organisations are using food to build connections and strengthen communities.

What to expect

11:00 | Doors open, refreshments available

11:15 - 11:45 | Welcome & keynote speaker
Setting the scene for the day, Jason Ran will share his research on widening participation in Edinburgh and the work communities are already doing across the city.

11:45 - 12:30 | Facilitated networking
Facilitated networking led by Jess Gildener, with an activity to warm up the room, make connections and share insights from across the network.

12:30 - 13:45 | Shared community lunch
A relaxed lunch to reconnect, meet new faces and catch up with others in the network. A catered lunch will be provided - please let us know about any dietary requirements.

13:45 - 15:15 | Workshops and reflections
Interactive workshops followed by a chance to share reflections and consider what we could do next as a network.

15:30 - 16:00 | Refreshments, town hall and closing

17:00 | People, Planet, Pint
Following the Assembly, People, Planet, Pint will be hosting a relaxed session at a nearby venue - a chance to continue the conversation and get to know each other better over a drink (location TBC).

We'll share workshop information and registration closer to the event.

Who is this for?

This event is open to all. You don’t need to be an ECCAN member to attend, but we’d love to welcome you to join the network - joining is free and only takes a minute.

Accessibility

Binks Hall:

• Four steps with a handrail up to the hall from Reception

• Platform lift available, operated by staff, taking up to 250kg

Sanctuary:

• One flight of stairs up

• Lift available from reception
