Meniscus
Meniscus’s lush ambient soundscapes, driving bass lines and poly-rhythmic beats create a unique musical experience that has been hypnotising Australian audiences since 2005. The Sydney trio’s unique brand of instrumental post rock blends the moody dynamics of acts like Mogwai and Sigur Rós with the prog rock technicality of King Crimson.
Treebeard
Cathartic Post-Rock // Post-metal from Melbourne, Australia. Drawing from post rock, post metal, prog & shoegaze, Treebeard's music involves lengthy & dynamic songs, ranging from the peaceful and emotive, to the destructive and furious. The band released their debut album 'NOSTALGIA' in 2021, garnering praise for its fresh approach to the genre, as well as its potent sense of atmosphere. In 2024, Treebeard released their follow-up "SNOWMAN", another epic concept album but with a much heavier and emotionally cathartic approach. 'Snowman', alongside their debut 'Nostalgia', was treated to a vinyl release by Dunk Records in Belgium.
Bear The Mammoth
Bear the Mammoth are an instrumental post‐rock band from Melbourne/Naarm, blending layered guitars, warm synths, and dynamic rhythms with touches of math‐rock precision and prog‐rock ambition. Their first EP, In Absence, arrived in 2012, introducing a sound that sits comfortably alongside influences like Mogwai, sleepmakeswaves, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Rós and Bossk. Since then, they’ve been crafting tunes that open softly, rise with energy, and carry you along for a ride.
Skin Thief
Heavy instrumental trio Skin Thief play a progressive style of post-metal. Featuring grinding bass heavy riffs with chopped rhythms that drop into brooding hypnotic atmospherics. The songs twist through introspective soundscapes that often coalesce into explosive crescendos. Their latest album 'Frozen in the Act of Breaking' was released in 2025 through Full Contact Safari Records followed by an Australian tour supporting heavy progressive psych trio Khan.
Kuiper
Kuiper was a studio project started in 2016, intended to explore experimental and instrumental music. In 2021, the first album entitled Alignments was released. In 2023, a band was rehearsed to turn the music live. In 2024, Kuiper debuted live supporting Mogwai (Scotland) at Hindley Street Music Hall. Kuiper has also supported Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai) & interstate acts including Black Aleph, Kahn and Treebeard. In 2025, Kuiper travelled to Victoria to support Black Aleph, and performed solo at Iluminate Festival in Adelaide as an audio and visual performance.
The Slow Light
Hailing from Adelaide, the Slow Light are the brainchild of Australian musician and songwriter Jack Bolingbroke, formed in the late 2010s. The Slow Light soon blossomed into a full band, consisting of Bolingbroke (vocals, guitars, synthesizers), Morris Ewings (bass), Rory Amoy (drums), Tom Pearce (guitars) and Nathan Churches (piano, keyboards), all close friends who've previously played together in an assortment of groups. The quintet takes primary inspiration from the crossover-psychedelia of earlier Porcupine Tree, along with the atmospheric alternative rock of the Pineapple Thief and Riverside, along with a healthy appreciation for classic prog like Pink Floyd, Eloy and Genesis and electronic acts such as Jon Hopkins, Carbon Based Lifeforms and Shpongle.
The Unset
Adelaide-based power trio The Unset have become a distinctive voice in Australia’s alternative and progressive rock landscape. Fusing the dynamics of modern alt-rock with textured experimentation, the band strikes a rare balance between accessibility and artistic depth—drawing comparisons to Oceansize, A Perfect Circle, and The Butterfly Effect. Formed in 2016 by high-school friends Elian Hamilton and Simon Ielasi, later joined by Aaron Lawrence (iiah, We See Moons), The Unset released their debut EP ‘Polymer’, whose lead single ‘Solipsism’ won the national public-voted ‘Best Song’ award in the ‘Captured Australia’ competition. Follow-up singles ‘Hunter’ and ‘Nice’ showcased the band’s growth—merging anthemic hooks with electronic and atmospheric elements.
We See Moons
We See Moons is an ambient post-rock project out of Adelaide SA. Their songs explore the themes of light and dark—which is highlighted in the heaviness and ambient parts of their music. They have released two singles to date “These Lights Lead The Way” (2024) and “REQUIEM” (2025).
Spires
SPIRES are a fuzzed out post-rock band based on Kaurna Land (Adelaide, South Australia). Creating richly detailed kaleidoscopes of sound, the band combine movements of pummelling, atonal noise—with hypnotic melodies doused in reverb.
Mountains Below
Mountains Below is a three-piece post-rock/metal band from Adelaide, South Australia. Active since 2024, they blend dissonant intensity with atmospheric riffs. Their debut EP, released in July 2025, captures the band’s heavy, immersive sound and evolving sonic identity.
Geomancer
Geomancer is a post rock / hopecore / ambient project started by producer/multi-instrumentalist Dale Hardman in 2022. Joined by Tyson Mahoney (Bass, Guitars) and Todd James (Drums, Piano) it became a three-piece. The debut album was released June 2024, and was followed by many singles and the eventual 2025 EP "Red Sovereign", featuring the first Geomancer song to contain vocals.
Halfway Line
Formed in 2023, Halfway Line emerged from the break up of Adelaide Post-Rockers iiah. Featuring Ben Twartz (Guitar), Matthew Stedman (Drums), and Nick Rivett (Guitar) Halfway Line is the next evolution in a musical journey that is entering its third decade.
