Eco & Botanical Printmaking

Explore the mysteries of eco dyeing on paper, layering foliage on varied papers and simmering in natural plant dyes. I am donating my time and most materials for this course so all profits will go to the gallery.

What will be covered

Mordants, paper types, natural dyes and best foliage for successful results. Composition and upscaling of finished work.

By the end of the course students will

Students will have the skills to explore the printmaking process independently and understand how to utilise this technique with other art making processes.

This class if for

Adults beginning or experienced art makers wishing to explore the link between nature and art.

Required materials

Close to the day collect some interesting, shaped leaves or flowers, best pressed in newspaper. Eucalyptus, grevilia, daisies, liquid amber etc. work well. I will bring plenty too. Covered footwear essential, apron recommended, an old towel to take home damp papers.

ABOUT THE TUTOR

Kerrie’s career was in Arts education. Since retiring she has joined the Gypsy Art Group and Woolgoolga Gallery. Several days per week she spends eco printing and researching techniques to create artworks and wearables. Her other passion, started 12 months ago is exploring 3D forms, cutting, weaving, shaping & heat-treating stainless steel, brass & copper mesh to transform it into organic forms. Printed wearables are on display at Yarrilla Arts & Museum, Coffs Botanical Garden, Woolgoolga Art Gallery & the Max Gallery at Macksville.
