Eco Printing Demonstration

Eco printing is a natural dyeing and botanical printing process that uses leaves, flowers, bark, and other plant materials to transfer their pigment, shape, and texture directly onto fabric and paper using heat and homemade mordants.

During the demonstration, you will experiment with a range of materials and processes while learning the fundamentals of eco printing, creating a series of sample prints and finished pieces that will give you the foundation to continue your practice at home. As we work through the process, we’ll begin to see everyday plants differently, recognising the potential for colour, pattern, and mark-making in the natural environment around you.

This is a fun, interactive demonstration for anyone interested in sustainable art practices, creative experimentation, and connecting more closely with their local environment through process-based making. All tools, materials and snacks are provided. Participants are also welcome to bring along their own leaves, bark, or plant clippings to experiment with.

Nqa is a contemporary artist and arts worker based locally, with an experimental sculptural practice and a background in material-based art making. She enjoys encouraging creativity, confidence, and conceptual thinking through hands-on making and material exploration.
