Ecodyeing with upcycled fashion
Event description
Join textile artist Fiona Connell in her home studio in Stonyfell for a deep dive into the magic of ecodyeing. This is a beautiful process that invites connection to Mother Nature whilst also caring for our planetary home at the same time. For your main piece you will select from a large range of prepared thrifted clothing (size inclusive range) . This will then be printed with eucalyptus leaves using a very natural process. Whilst this is developing in the dye pot we will experiment with some other techniques, including shibori and avocado dyeing.
Fiona will share her knowledge freely so you can leave knowing how to continue your ecodyeing adventures both safely and with confidence in the end result. Topics covered include preparation of material, finding suitable dyestuffs, safety and how to avoid pitfalls.
Tea and coffee supplied, please bring your own lunch as well as one pair of thin disposable gloves and a pair of heavier dishwashing gloves to protect spur hands from hot splashes.
