EcoHome Tour & EcoVillage Vision
Event description
This is a rare opportunity to find out about living more lightly on the earth in Maclean's "hidden valley". Did you know that Maclean (Yaegl Country, Northern NSW) will soon have its very own ecovillage called Jagera? Grab this opportunity to ask the questions you want to with our Ecohome Tour and Ecovillage Vision.
On Saturday, 24 September from 10am, Eshana and Pete are opening Foresthaven - their eco-home and 20 acres of regenerating forest - to share a range of alternative systems they are using on their journey towards an off-grid-in-town lifestyle.
Systems include: peri-urban location, 3 recycled houses, hemp building, natural cooling, permaculture orchards and food forests, solar power, keeping water flowing through the landscape, rainforest and biodiversity regeneration, cultural respect, neighbourhood garden, "chooks in the 'hood", nature connection including workshops and bush school, co-creating eco-community ....
At 11am this will be followed by an information session and tour through the site of their fully approved ecovillage, the Jagera EcoCommunity, located on the 5 acres next door to Foresthaven. With 11 sites (and only 4 still to be claimed) this council approved ecovillage is well advanced and just waiting to find their final members before they press "go" and start construction. For more info about Jagera please visit www.EcoCommunity.org.au and come along with your questions.
Systems include: all of the above, plus.... ecovillage design, community facilities and neighbourhood connection, solar microgrid, recycled stormwater collection, shared community land, walking tracks, ecoconcrete ringroad, bushfire mitigation, protecting and enhancing biodiversity, soil conservation, collaborative planning for views and solar access, ecoarchitecture and energy efficient building design and more!
* If you are interested in becoming a part of the ecovillage, or investing in it, BYO lunch to share, and Pete and Eshana can answer more detailed questions over lunch from 12 noon.
Address: Foresthaven, 9 Hoschkes Lane, Maclean. Last house on right at the very end of the lane. Limited parking.
This event is part of the Resilient Communities program run by OzGREEN. Thanks OxGREEN! Jagera is project managed by Sustainable Futures Australia, and Foresthaven is supported by Friends of Foresthaven Inc.
