Economics for Sustainable Prosperity

ECONOMICS WHERE PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT MATTER.

This two-day seminar includes discussion on some of the most pressing economic issues facing the world today.

Topics include inequality, insecurity, climate change, the federal budget and a campaign for a fairer and more sustainable economy, drawn from modern monetary theory and ecological economics.

COURSE OUTLINE

Adapted from a university economics subject, the workshop is divided into units, most of which feature a 20-30 minute introduction, a 10-15 minute video and at least 20 minutes of small-group discussion. 

The first day is centred around Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) and includes a screening of the award winning documentary Finding The Money. Day two looks at the economy as a subsystem of the natural environment and examines human behaviour, inequality and global trade.
