Description

Ecstatic Dance Fort Worth is back! What once existed has been reimagined, rooted even deeper in community, presence, and the power of freeform movement!

Welcome! You’re invited into a space where you can move freely, release emotionally, and reconnect to yourself through non-performative freeform dance.

We dance barefoot + without talking on the dance floor, allowing the experience to be inward and intuitive. The music will guide you through a wave ~ building in intensity towards a peak + softening back down ~ while the space is held with clear boundaries to support emotional and physical safety.

Whether this is your first dance or you’ve danced with us before, this is an opportunity to be part of a new beginning! Come as you are and don’t overthink it! We look forward to dancing with you!

FAQs

  • What is Ecstatic Dance

Ecstatic Dance is a sober, free-form movement experience. There is no choreography and no expectation to perform. You are invited to move in whatever way feels honest for your body.

We dance without talking, allowing the experience to be inward, intuitive, and connected. Music will guide the journey, and the space will be held with clear boundaries to support emotional and physical safety.

Each set is a journey — we begin slowly, build into movement and intensity, and then come back down into a more grounded, integrated space. You are invited to listen to your body and choose your own pace.

  • EDFW Space Etiquitte
    • We dance barefoot or with supportive dancing shoes if needed.

    • We honor a sober container to allow presence and lucidity in our practice.

    • We turn our phones off and honor a phone-free experience - we do not take any photos or videos on the dance floor.

    • We honor a non-verbal experience once you enter dance space.

    • We honor emotions, by allowing space for emotions to move through. Leadership is there to offer compassionate support if needed.

    • We practice consent in all interactions on + off the dance floor. We will not approach people from behind or without clear eye-contact.

    • Clear eye-contact helps confirm a “yes” by both parties interested in connecting. Prayer hands at chest is the universal symbol of “no thank you, I am content in my own dance” or "thank you for our dance, I'm complete in our connection now."

    • We agree to practice being non-judgmental + accepting others and ourselves as we are.

    • We arrive on time for opening circle to belong ourselves.

    • For the safety of our conatainer - the doors will be locked at 6:30pm.

Come as you are + don’t overthink it (: Everything will be fully explained in our opening circle dialouge! <3

  • Is EDFW Kid Friendly

YES, children under 12 dance for free! ! Not only are they welcome - their presence is truly cherished! Please select a free childrens ticket at checkout so that we can keep in mind the headcount for each dance. Thanks!

    We just ask :

    • Kids stay within eyesight of guardian at all times.

    • Kids are not permitted to hangout in hallways or any other room without you.

    • No tablets or phones allowed inside dance space.

    • Please help your child respect our non-verbal agreement by reminding them to speak quietly, and practice active listening when others are speaking.

We invite you to set clear expectations with your children about practicing presence & encourage them to join in on the experience with you! If they're timid - or not ready to join their first time THAT is OK - it takes us adults time to soften too. Let them witness and participate in their own time.

  • What should I bring
    • Wear comfy clothes that allow freedom of movement!

    • Layers or light jacket for when we come down into stillness to support as the body regulates.

    • Blanket & neck comfort if desired.

    • A water bottle! Water refills are available.

    • Ear protection for you or your kiddo if preferred.

    • Journal + pen for relections & integration.

    • Flowtoys that encourage expression.

    • An open mind & heart!❤️

  • Can I arrive late or leave early

    Arriving late :

Doors open at 12pm for a thirty minute warm up that will lead into our opening circle. To protect the safety of our container, doors will promptly lock at 12:30pm - no exceptions.

If you are unable to arrive on time for opening circle, please email : ECSTATICDANCEFORTWORTH@GMAIL.COM within 3 days after the missed event to transfer your ticket to a future date. If we don’t hear from you within 3 days, the ticket will be received as a donation.❤️

See Refund Policy for more details.

    Leaving Early:

We encourage you, whenever possible, to stay through our closing circle. The full journey is intentionally designed ~ from building energy to gently grounding back down ~ so allowing yourself to move all the way through can support a deeper sense of release, integration, and catharsis.

That said, we understand that sometimes you may need to leave early. If so, we kindly ask that you connect with a member of our team so we can support your exit and help maintain the container for others.

To support a more complete landing, we offer a sound bath or grounding activity (guided breathe or group song) at the end of each ecstatic dance ~ an opportunity to rest, integrate, and return to balance before stepping back out into the world!

Thank you for your understanding & commitment to holding the safety of our containers in high regard.

  • What about Flowtoys

Flow toys are permitted on the stage ONLY- 3 dancers at a time! Come to shine and show off your moves! We just ask that everyone takes turns and allows everyone wanting space to flow to have some!

Flow toys are not permitted on dance floor to keep that space free to our other dancers.❤️

  • What a fantastic experience!

Tapping into our inner moments and feelings and letting them bubble to be an outward expression of movement and emotions is wonderful. The dancer in me loved it.

  • It’s a safe place to be yourself

After experiencing the welcoming, non-judgmental, transformational energy that allowed me to move my body like no one else is watching, I was hooked! If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out!

    Rachel Ecstatic Dancer
  • I love this practice now

I was completely new to free-form dance (after years of structural dance). EDFW created a great container for beginners. I was able to ease into the practice and feel comfortable.
