Edgar's Mission Open Day

Once a year we open the gates and invite you in to meet the animals who live here.

This year Open Day sits alongside World Kindness Day; a day dedicated to fostering kindness around the world.

Edgar's Mission is home to hundreds of rescued farmed animals, each one with a story of how they got here. Open Day is your chance to walk the paddocks, hear those stories from the people who care for them, and spend an unhurried day in the company of the residents who now call Edgar's Mission home.

What's on

Guided tours of the sanctuary to introduce you to the individuals rescued from the industry and promised a home to live the life they were meant to.

Animal encounters run throughout the day. Short, close-up sessions with some of the sanctuary's best-known residents,

Founder Pam Ahern in the afternoon, looking back on the year that was and what's ahead for the sanctuary in 2027.

The Passport Trail, a self-guided walk for kids with checkpoints across the property. Collect them all.

A photography walk for anyone who wants to make better animal portraits, whatever camera or phone you've brought.

Zine-making with Sticky Institute, a drop-in workshop best suited to ages 8 and up.

Face painting, our shop, and a raffle with some genuinely good prizes, including a stay in the Tiny House.

Food and drink

Everything on site is plant-based. Woking Amazing, Oh My Doner, The Kindness Echoes and coffee van The Mylk Bar will be with us all day. Plus, the Edgar's Mission sausage sizzle.

Tickets

Adults $25. Children and anyone on a low income pay what you feel is fair, because we'd rather you came than didn't.

Numbers are capped at 400. Book ahead. If we haven't reached the cap we'll sell at the gate on the day, but we can't promise that.

Before you come

We're a working farm sanctuary, so wear closed shoes you don't mind getting dirty and dress for whatever the sky is doing. Parking is on grass and can be soft after rain. Sunscreen, hat, water bottle.

We love animals but please leave your dog at home.
