Edible Foraging Adventure - Winter Weed Walk
Event description
Weed foraging isn’t just about knowing what is around us - it’s also about the food, medicine and tea that has been used by humans since before history! 🌱
So much exists around us, growing innocently, which is of great value to our health and wellbeing. And we know your kids' curiosity will be forever awoken by this workshop.
Let us lead you on an informative and simple walk, where you and your kids can come away confident that you know what is a friend or a foe. The joy participants derive from this exploration is something special to see - mostly because, in our opinion, it’s a birthright to us all.
Experienced Nature Educators Sage and Dee will guide you through the basics of safe foraging. You'll have plenty of hands-on opportunities to observe, collect, and even sample some of our findings. 👀✨Learning about what each plant’s health benefit is!
🍃 This knowledge has been fading from our collective experience, and we're passionate about passing it on to the next generation.
🌼 Each session brings new discoveries as different plants emerge with the seasons, which has been thrilling each time we have run this sold out workshop.
🌸 At the end, children will create a nature-inspired weed mandala to take home, helping them remember their new plant friends.
Suitable for children ages 4-12
🔎 Each family receives a take-home identification booklet specific to local plants in the area.
👨👩👧👦 Parents are asked to stay with their children throughout the session and are encouraged to participate fully in the experience.
🌦️🌈 Come prepared for any weather – we believe in outdoor learning regardless of conditions. In cases of rain, we'll move to a sheltered location nearby.
We only cancel for extreme weather warnings (fire, strong winds, storms or high temperatures).
