Edible Gardening 101 at Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre
Event description
Keen to start edible gardening but not sure where to start? Join us for this 6-week program to learn (and practice!) the basics needed to grow a productive spring/summer veggie garden. Over the six weeks you will gain practical knowledge on seasonal planning and crop rotation, preparing soil for pots and garden beds, best mediums for seed raising and pots, sowing in punnets vs direct sowing, planting out and caring for seedlings, propagating seedlings from cuttings, chemical free fertilising and pest management and lots more.
The aim is for you to finish the course with seedlings that you've propagated, potted cuttings ready to plant, a pot or 2 growing a vegetable of your choice and the confidence to repeat the process at home to grow your own food.
10am to 11am Wednesdays in the garden - 18 September to 25 October
Cost: $60 (this can be covered by activity vouchers for people)
