Event description

Edible perennials - workshop

Growing food at home is becoming increasingly popular, but edible perennials are often overlooked. Not only are edible perennials more resilient, sturdy, and easy to grow than many of their annual counterparts - they can use less water, create more shade and cooling, help build healthy soil, and store more carbon.

There is no better time to introduce edible perennials to your garden! In this workshop, Charlotte from Sustainable Gardening Australia will talk about the benefits, and how to grow, a variety of edible perennials. Come along for the opportunity to participate in a hands on propagation activity.

Please note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only (which includes Boroondara). If you live outside this area, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally.

If you have any access or support questions or requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you.

This My Smart Garden event is proudly presented by City of Boroondara on the land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin nation. My Smart Garden pays our respect to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledges that First Nations peoples have cared for Country sustainably for tens of thousands of years.
