After over 30 years experience teaching creative writing and working as a professional editor Dr Sally Breen will share her kitbag of tricks - from structural editorial to line level refinement you'll come out of this workshop understanding how to edit your own work so that it is publication ready.

Learning outcomes

As part of this workshop you will:

Learn how to understand and design an effective structural framework
Recognise the most common errors made in sentence construction and how to eliminate them from your composition
Enhance your ability to read and edit a piece of writing at macro and micro levels

Format

This is an in-person workshop with a focus on writing craft; it will be held in-person at State Library of Queensland. This workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and backgrounds.

About Sally

Dr Sally Breen is Associate Professor in Writing and Publishing at Griffith University, Australia. She is the author of the iconic grunge memoir The Casuals and the neo-noir novel Atomic City. Her short form work has been published widely with features in Griffith Review, Overland, Meanjin, Best Australian Stories, The Australian, The Age, Sydney Review of Books, Hemingway Shorts, The Guardian London and Asia Literary Review. She is a regular contributor to The Conversation. Dr Breen is executive director of Asia Pacific Writers and Translators (APWT)
