Educating The Future's 10-year Anniversary Gala Dinner

Educating The Future is a small, volunteer and youth-led NGO supporting pre-school education in neighbouring Timor-Leste. The organisation has been working towards its aim of ensuring Timorese children have access to a safe education since inception in 2015 after Co-Founders Adam and Alexi walked nearly 1000 km from Bondi to Byron Bay as high-school students.

Since then, the organisation has had contributions from over 200 volunteers from around Australia and Timor-Leste, and has built, set up, and supports seven public pre-schools with the Ministry of Education Timor-Leste across Timor-Leste in the Ermera, Dili, Liquica, Aileu and Baucau Municipalities. The team has educated over 2000 children who otherwise would not have got this basic start to life thanks to the contributions of our community.

To celebrate their 10th year, the organisation is hosting an Anniversary Gala at Waverley College in Sydney, where the Co-Founders set-off for their initial walk in the Cosgrove Centre. Run completely by volunteers, this Gala seeks to promote the importance of pre-school education to you - an engaged and generous audience.

The night will also be led by members of our Timorese team, featuring keynote speeches from our Timorese Founder Cirilo Soares, and Timor’s First Lady Kirsty Sword Gusmão AO. Our MC’s, Frenky and Nina, are volunteers from our Timorese team and will lead you in a night of celebrations including silent auctions, raffles, speeches, live music, DJs and dancing from 6pm-11pm.

The night will also celebrate our Co-Founder and CEO, Adam, who has led the organisation for a decade and will be announcing plans for the future of Educating The Future and himself. We hope this night will connect and celebrate our valued donors, supporters and partners who have all been integral in the organisation’s journey over the last ten years. We hope to make your contributions visible, and to pay homage to what we have achieved together.
