Education and Guiding Information Session for Volunteers
Event description
Are you a good human being who is motivated to contribute towards a meaningful mission? Are you wanting to make a real impact? Are you passionate and want to give back to the community? We are looking for individuals who have the ability to facilitate student led inquiry focused learning, with the ability to engage in appropriate levels of Holocaust education.
The Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM), formerly known as the Jewish Holocaust Centre, is Australia’s largest institution solely dedicated to Holocaust education, research, and remembrance, fostering the values of acceptance and understanding, and preserving the testimonies of our survivors. Established by survivors in 1984, the MHM is now a world-class museum and research centre. We hold a wide array of thought-provoking events, and welcome thousands of local and international visitors through our doors.
We are currently seeking volunteers to facilitate exhibitions, guide the general public (on varied todays, including Sundays), and assist in both adult education and student education programs. The student education-based volunteers will support the education program for students grades 5-12 through student-based learning on Mondays to Fridays, helping the education team deliver the program to more than 25,000 students annually. This volunteer role would be suitable for individuals who have experience working in education, tour guiding, and university students.
This information session is for members of the public who are interested in guiding school children (years 5-12), adult education or guiding. It's a chance to meet our team to learn more about our museum, our mission, and why we do what we do.
Our education team information session is a requirement for potential volunteers wanting to volunteer in the Melbourne Holocaust Museum's Education department. Please register your interest by RSVPing and filling out the required questions.
