Educational Walking Tour of our Indigenous Edible Food Forest with Native Plant Enthusiast Chris Cheetham

Saturday 18 January 2025 - (2.00pm-2.30pm)

Our Indigenous Edible Food Forest was generously funded through the Sydney Edible Garden Trail (SEGT) and is a carefully curated collection of edible plants native to NSW. It's aim is to preserve and promote indigenous, endemic and native plant species, provide a wildlife corridor for native, endangered and migratory fauna, and to provide a space for cultural storytelling and sharing of knowledge to our communities. Plants were chosen to emulate the seven layers of a forest and include endemic trees, shrubs, understory plants, vines and ground covers.

Many of these plants have been used for centuries as food, medicines, and more. The tour will serve as a chance to learn and ask questions to native plant enthusiast, Chris Cheetham who volunteers most of his time at Hawkesbury Community Nursery.

You may notice we have lost some plants due to the extreme heat late last year. We hope some of you might consider contributing to our 'Adopt-a-Plant' programme, where you purchase a plant, plant it and come occasionally to care for your plant. Alternatively, we can care for your donated plant.
