About this Event

Find out what happens behind the scenes, how and why the organisation operates, why reuse is different from recycling, how and where materials are collected and sorted.

We will you show examples of discarded materials, once destined for landfill, and suggest how they could be used creatively in your classroom.

Following the talk you can keep exploring the warehouse, gather ideas and/or materials for your projects while your guide is on hand to offer advice and assistance.

What your booking includes:

About Joe

Hello! My name’s Joe, and I’ve recently joined the team at Reverse Garbage Queensland as Mail Order Coordinator. I came into the role seeing it as a great opportunity to synthesise many of my interests – in creativity, sustainability and education. I have a background in music, and am currently also studying psychology. I’m particularly interested in the educational and developmental benefits of free or unstructured play – and this is something that the activities throughout our Mail Order Catalogue really aim to foster and encourage. By allowing kids to explore new materials and objects, and letting them use their imaginations to guide what they make out of these materials, kids have the opportunity to learn in a spontaneous, fun and engaging way – which, often, is the best way to learn!
