Event description

Effective strategies to support device use and gaming

In Focus Family Workshop

For many people on the spectrum devices and gaming can be a great passion.  While this world offers a great array of entertainment and education opportunities it can often present issues such as  excessive screen use leading to a negative impact on community, social and educational partipation. The online world often requires learning a new set of online world rules, and the ever-changing landscape of technology and social interaction via social media add an extra layer of complexity to social interactions and increases exposure to the threat of online bullying.

This session will look at:

  • Why are devices and gaming often appealing to individuals on the spectrum;
  • Managing IT use;
  • Online safety;
  • Positive use of devices; and
  • Resources to support the above.

    Age range: 0+
