If you're not taking care of yourself, it will show in your work. That's why it's so important to find ways to sustain yourself—so you can sustain your business. But what does "sustaining yourself" really mean? And how can you do it?

What Is Wellbeing?

Before we can talk about how to sustain ourselves, we need to first define what wellbeing means—because it means different things for different people. For some, it might be having a healthy work-life balance. For others, it might be making time for self-care or investing in their personal relationships. There are endless possible markers of wellbeing, but the important thing is that you identify what those markers are for you.

The Non-Negotiable Self-Reflection Loop

One of the best ways to sustain yourself is to establish a regular self-reflection loop. This is a non-negotiable habit that you commit to—no matter how busy you are—in order to constantly evaluate and innovate for your wellbeing. The self-reflection loop looks different for everyone, but it should allow you to track your progress, set goals, and troubleshoot any areas that need improvement.

Our guest speaker, Deena Thompson, specialises in growing relationship awareness for individuals and couples. She also facilitates healthy navigation through change, be it illness, loss through death, divorce, income or employment amongst other life events.

Deena’s heart felt mission is to enable others to live with authenticity, by sharing the tools and skills she has cultivated from her vast professional and personal experience. She has worked as a psychotherapist for over 20 years.

The Entrepreneurship Facilitator Services is an initiative of the Australian Government. The program aims to promote opportunities in self-employment and support business through assistance in starting, surviving and growing your business. Sourdough Business Pathways is one of 23 Entrepreneurship Providers across Australia supporting anyone wanting to start their own business or who already run a micro-business.

These sessions are free for eligible clients who are starting a business or who run a micro business (with less than 4 staff). Sourdough Business Pathways are the Entrepreneurship Facilitator for the Region of Richmond-Tweed (Tweed Heads) providing workshops, mentoring, networking opportunities and one-to-one facilitator sessions across the Byron Bay and Tweed regions. Our support extends as far north as Tweed Heads and south to Lennox Head and Bangalow.
