About the event:
Beginnings brings together the dynamic musicians of Elder Music Lab for an evening of bold contrasts and fresh perspectives. Featuring music by J.S. Bach, Bruno Mantovani, Missy Mazzoli and more, this program traces lines between past and present, tradition and experiment — revealing how new ideas are often born from old ones.
Set within the immersive spaces of MOD., this relaxed after-hours performance invites audiences to experience chamber music in dialogue with a living, breathing museum of ideas. Wander the galleries, enjoy a drink from the bar, and hear music unfold in a setting where art, science and innovation meet.

In 2026, the Elder Conservatorium of Music partners with MOD. for a bold new three-concert evening series that reimagines how we experience music. Set within MOD.’s futuristic museum of discovery, these relaxed events see live music unfold alongside open galleries and a bar, bringing sound into dialogue with ideas at the intersection of science, art and innovation.
Featuring Elder Music Lab, Stephen Whittington and Ensemble Lumen, the series is quirky, contemporary and immersive. Join us after hours at MOD. to hear the future take shape.
