2026 Victorian Election Call to Parties: A vision for children, young people, families and carers
Description
With the Victorian election just weeks away, the Centre's Call to Parties event is your chance to hear directly from the major parties on what they will do for Victoria's children, young people, families and carers, and to put your questions to them.
Please join us next Wednesday 21 October for the 2026 Victorian Election Call to Parties.
Minister for Children Hon. Lizzie Blandthorn (Labor), Shadow Minister for Child Protection Nicole Werner (Coalition), Spokesperson for child protection Anasina Gray-Barberio (Greens) and One Nation Deputy Leader Colleen Harkin have been invited to set out their policy agenda and respond to the Centre's six election priorities:
Foster and kinship care: increase carer allowances to cover the true cost of caring for a child, and invest in the supports carers need to provide safe, stable and nurturing homes.
Children with disability: invest in a well-integrated disability support system that works better with the NDIS, so every child with disability can access the services they need to thrive.
Youth justice: give every young person in the youth justice system tailored, evidence-informed support for their education, health and wellbeing, setting them up to successfully return to the community.
Therapeutic services for children: urgently expand specialist therapeutic services and early intervention for children and young people who have experienced abuse, neglect or family violence.
Secure housing: rapidly expand social and affordable housing so children, young people, care leavers and families experiencing disadvantage have safe, secure and stable homes.
Sector funding stability: commit to minimum five-year funding agreements for family services, giving certainty, strengthening workforce stability and improving outcomes for children and families.
