The stage is set, your last meal is being prepared, and you await The Electric Chair! Gear up to be punished, electrified and swept up in a current of high voltage punk music to fry the synapses and free you from your cruel, grey prison into a technicolour world beyond.

Electric Chair dropped their ‘Performative Justice’ EP in 2019 to a buzz in the hardcore underground. The sound was one which hadn’t been done with this type of fervour for a while. The record artwork was eye-catching and the band name was memorable. It screamed, “Watch this space...” and watch, we did.

During 2021, when a lot of artists decided to lay low and wait until “it” had all blown over, Electric Chair capitalised by managing to film a live set in an empty venue due to worldwide lockdown status and their if-Poison-Idea-were-a-high-school-band energy was palpable. “If this is what they’re like without a crowd, imagine an actual live show in front of thousands of screaming Electromaniacs!” This video footage is still worth searching for as one of the coolest documents of punk music during that modern dark age. 

Since those dark ages they followed up with two more releases, Social Capital; a timely reminder of why we liked them in the first place and Act Of Aggression; a statement putting the world beyond their hometown of Portland on notice that they are still capable of reaching new levels of ferocity with their pinprick punishment.
