Electric Vehicle Show & Tell
Event description
Join the Rural City of Wangaratta and Wangaratta Landcare & Sustainability on Saturday 26 August at 10.30am for our community 'Electric Vehicles Show & Tell' event.
After you’ve had a look at a few EVs outside the Wangaratta Library, join us inside for morning tea, as we host a talk with industry experts and community members with real-life experience as electric vehicle users in the local area. We'll chat about all-things 'EV' including the very basics - how they work, how you charge them, where you can try one out or buy one if you're ready. Our panellists will also address your concerns on range-anxiety and how to charge EVs while you're out on the road, and we’ll do our best to answer all of your other burning questions.Â
Panel members:
Rob Carolane (MC)
Rob is a resident of Wangaratta and an EV owner since early 2021 with 40,000 kms now on the clock. Rob, now retired, was a facilitator and community engagement practitioner working across regional Victoria. He has had a long term interest in renewable energy -he lived off-grid for over 35 years and bought his first solar panels in the mid 1980s. Rob is the Chair of Indigo Power Foundation, a not-for-profit charity seeking to increase the uptake of renewable energy production, storage, and trading that saves money, improves regional economies and builds community resilience.
Brad Foletta
Brad Foletta is part owner and Director of Solargain Wangaratta, which has been servicing the local region with quality renewable energy solutions for almost 10 years. Brad actually started off in the oil and gas shipping industry as a qualified marine engineer but is now much happier working in the renewable energy sector and helping Australia’s transition away from fossil fuels. He is a self-confessed car nut, and just like his career path fully changed, so too has his love for vehicles, as he now much prefers driving an EV than a V8 or turbo diesel.
Clare Grogan
Clare Grogan is a committee member of Wangaratta Landcare and Sustainability and together with her husband Mick, bought an electric vehicle in November 2022. Clare believes in the power of individuals with capacity to lead change and make choices to reduce carbon emissions to mitigate the climate emergency.
John Warnock
John grew up in North-East Victoria with family history which dates back to the days of Ned Kelly! Currently the Technical Services Manager in Melbourne for MyEnergi, John moved into the EV charging space back in 2021, expanding on his career in technical services for the printing industry. He has a good breadth of knowledge when it comes to EV charging technology and the relationship between Electric Vehicles and home connections.
Matt Grogan
Matt Grogan is one of the founding members of both Totally Renewable Yackandandah and Indigo Power, and has long been an EV enthusiast. It’s only natural he became involved in importing and selling Electric Vehicles, including providing used electric cars for sale in Australia.Â
Come along and also have a chat with local business in attendance:
