Electrical Repair Shop

Bring your broken electrical appliances for assessment and we will work with each participant to trouble shoot how they might fix their object. Meditating on the systems within the machine we imagine how we might repair it, or hack it into something with utility. We will try our best to repair items and give you tips on how to repair them yourself.

The $30 is a inspection fee, if its an easy fix well repair it for you on the spot, but if it takes a bit longer we charge $40 an hour plus any cost of parts.

We can’t guarantee that we can repair items brought in, but we can give you an idea of what’s wrong and whether it's repairable. 

If its not repairable, and we stock similar items, we will give you a gift voucher to use at our Marrickville Store to choose a replacement item.

At the Bower Repair Shop we give you the safety skills and confidence to pull apart your appliances at home so that you can come away from our workshops empowered.

We welcome you to come outside of your allocated spot and watch other peoples objects get fixed, you can gain incredible insight into how things work.

Items we can generally fix: Lamps, Fans, speakers and sound systems, Heaters, toasters, ovens, things with heating elements, clocks, blenders, most kitchen appliances

What we struggle to fix: printers, microwaves, fridges, laptops and phones, we are better at hardware than software, appliances with smart tech reporting an error code.

Directions: Enter via Prospect Rd,(google maps sometimes brings you to the West Ashfield club we are opposite). There is a big sign out the front saying Inner West Sustainability Hub, with The Bower Logo. If driving, park in nearby streets. Walk or ride through the big white gate - there are spots to lock up your bike. Keep walking up the drive past another Bower sign. We are right up the back next to the community garden, you will see our big roller door up <3

If you decide to leave your repair with us please note that it can take some time to get to your repair we operate on mostly volunteer energy and are not for profit.
