Electrify Everything Gold Coast

Event description

In an enlightening discussion, inventor, engineer, author and visionary Dr Saul Griffith reveals the opportunities that await if we make the most of Australia's energy future and electrify everything; which is to replace our fossil fuel run machines with efficient, electric alternatives powered by renewable energy. Saul Griffith and his team at Rewiring Australia are on a mission to electrify everything to create an energy system that is fairer, cleaner and affordable for every Australian.

Join us for an evening of vision and practicality

Saul will outline his research and visionary blueprint, painting an inspiring yet practical picture of empowered local communities acting collectively, and households being placed first in energy and climate policy.

Saul then will be joined by an esteemed panel of speakers for a lively discussion on our energy future, the role of Queensland and the importance of households. We are thrilled that on the panel with Saul will be:

  • Brendan Mackey: A lead author of 2022 IPCC and Director of Griffith Climate Action Beacon, Griffith Uni.
  • Michelle Archard: Resident and owner within the Ecovillage at Currumbin Valley and Communications and Science specialist.
  • The discussion will be moderated by Dr Clare Burns from Bond University

The event is put on in collaboration with local community groups and proceeds will support community-led electrification.

We hope to see you there!

About Saul Griffith

Saul was a key advisor and designer of the game-changing US legislation, a $369 billion investment in electrifying US homes and kickstarting a clean energy and manufacturing boom. He returned to Australia in 2021 to steer his home country on an ambitious yet achievable path to address the climate and cost of living crisis while helping every household reduce their energy bills. Saul established non-profit research and advocacy organisation, Rewiring Australia, to carry out this crucial work, which supports and connects with local community groups.

'We need a realistic and achievable vision for the future because the future is coming fast. We have only about one-quarter of one century, twenty-five years, one human generation, to get ourselves out of this climate quandary. If we get this right, if we design the incentives and the policies and the regulations correctly, communities will thrive. Every Australian will benefit economically, socially and even health-wise. So let's hit the road.'
