Anyone curious about electric vehicles, home batteries, heat pump hot water systems, solar panels, induction cooktops and reverse cycle air conditioning but wanting to hear from everyday owners as well as trusted installers will have the chance to do just that at the Electrify Melville City EXPO 2026.

The community event will be held on Saturday, September 5, from 1pm to 5pm at the Shirley Strickland Pavilion, 100 Coogee Road, Ardross, bringing together local volunteers, experts and trusted installers to answer questions about electric vehicles and home electrification.

Visitors will be able to inspect a range of electric vehicles on display and chat with owners who have already made the switch. Volunteers will share their experiences of buying, owning and driving EVs, offering practical advice and honest insights.

The Expo will also highlight how households and businesses can reduce energy costs by switching from gas appliances to efficient electric alternatives.

Organisers say the average Western Australian household could save around $3,500 a year by fully electrifying their home, while also improving indoor air quality, reducing energy use and lowering carbon emissions.

Volunteers who have already electrified their homes will be on hand to discuss their experiences, alongside local suppliers of solar panels, home batteries, heat pump hot water systems, induction cooktops and reverse-cycle air conditioning.

The keynote address will be delivered at 1.30pm by Professor Jatin Kala, a climate scientist from Murdoch University, who will discuss the benefits of electrification and the future of clean energy.

Entry is $5 for adults, with children admitted free. Tickets can be purchased through Humanitix or at the door.

All adult attendees will also go into the draw to win one of two door prizes: an IKEA portable induction cooktop or a one-year subscription to Renew magazine.

Whether visitors are considering an electric vehicle, looking to reduce their power bills or wanting to make their homes more energy efficient, organisers say the Expo will provide practical information and advice from people with real-life experience.

It's all happening on Saturday 5th September, 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Shirley Strickland Pavilion, 100 Coogee Rd, Ardross.
