Join us on this exclusive Elephant Education Programs Preview event
Secondary teachers are invited to this FREE professional development workshop showcasing the new exciting excursion programs developed at Werribee Open Range Zoo with a focus on Elephants.
Who is this for: Secondary school Science and/or VCE Biology teachers
Where: Werribee Open Range Zoo
Cost: Free
This event will run for two hours and explore the offerings for the new Year 7-10 Science and VCE Biology Unit 4 programs.
During the Year 7-10 session, you will:
- Explore animal classification and their roles in an ecosystem with a focus on mega and macrofauna
- Explore evolution and natural selection through building an understanding of elephant adaptations, populations and selection pressures
- Access lesson plans and resources that you can use right away
- Discover real ways to consolidate student learning
During the VCE Biology session, you will:
- Learn about the virus affecting wild and captive elephant populations by exploring the application of PCR testing, while considering the ethics of keeping elephants in captivity.
- Access lesson plans and resources that you can use right away
- Discover real ways to consolidate student learning
Recognition: certificate for 2 hours of PD
Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: 2.1, 2.4, 3.2, 3.4
Children and additional guests:
Children cannot attend the workshop, so we are offering 1 free companion adult ticket. Your campanion adult will need to supervise the children during the session.
