What is the book, Elf Chloe's Surprise about?
It's summer in Lapland, and the elves are excited to be back to work. But when Elf Chloe makes a shocking discovery about the toys they've made before, everything changes. Could it be time to rethink the gifts they give?
"I'm just one elf, I thought, what can I do? And then I remembered, there's all of you too!"
Elf Chloe's Surprise is perfect for families and educators who want to talk to their little ones about caring for the planet, this read-aloud rhyming story shows that even the smallest voice can make a big difference.
At the back of the book, you'll find discussion questions and practical tips for conscious gifting — making it as useful for grown-ups as it is enjoyable for children.
Who wrote it?
Charlotte Mason-Curl is a mum of two, a marketing consultant and the founder of The Kids Party Pact — a campaign normalising more affordable, less wasteful gifting.
Charlotte lives in Kendal and organises an annual festive toy swap here.
Elf Chloe's Surprise is her first picture book — inspired by real conversations with the parenting community about waste, second-hand gifts and what really matters on special occasions.
Special thanks to James Cropper
James Cropper kindly donated paper for Elf Chloe's Surprise and the colouring book, made with recycled coffee cups, thanks to their CupCycling™ process. They have also kindly sponsored the launch event – cheers to James Cropper!
