Embarking Within: One-Day Retreat to Relax & Heal
Event description
No experience needed. Just curiosity.
This one-day retreat is designed for people who need a day to relax and reconnect with what matters, away from the stresses of daily life. Whether you’ve dabbled with apps, tried a few classes, or are just meditation-curious, this retreat will meet you exactly where you are.
You’ll explore practices like breathwork, guided meditation, journaling, and sound healing in a warm and welcoming space. No pressure, no judgment, and absolutely no need to be “good” at meditating — it’s called a practice for a reason.
A day just for you (or come with a friend)
Sometimes the greatest gift is a day to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with yourself—without the pressure to perform or produce. You’re invited to spend the day learning simple tools to calm your nervous system, center your attention, and feel a little more grounded in your daily life.
Slip away with us to beautiful Westerbeke Ranch, just 1.5 hours north of San Francisco. The deep nourishment of Westerbeke’s delicious food and relaxing landscape will help you unwind and reset, quieting the chatter of your mind and opening your heart to the wisdom that’s within you.
Come solo for some quiet space or bring a friend and explore the practice together. Either way, you’ll leave feeling more present, refreshed, and reconnected — with yourself and the world around you.
What to expect
This isn’t a silent retreat or an advanced training — it’s a beginner-friendly, gently guided experience. Throughout the day you can expect:
Simple breathwork practices to help you feel more present and calm
Short, guided meditations designed for real people with real minds (yes, even busy ones!)
A sound bath with crystal bowls to help your nervous system relax and heal
Journaling prompts to explore what you’re noticing and how it might support you
Moments of reflection and connection, including light discussion with others who are learning too
You’ll also enjoy a delicious, nourishing lunch freshly made on-site and plenty of space to rest and recharge. Wander through the beautiful grounds at Westerbeke Ranch, take a dip in the pool or soak in the hot tub - they’re all available to you.
Why this retreat?
No pressure, no pre-reqs — You don’t need a daily practice, special cushion, or any idea what you’re doing. We’ve got you.
Real-life tools — Learn simple techniques you can actually use in everyday life (like when you're stressed, distracted, or overwhelmed).
Nourish your body and soul — Let the beautiful surroundings, delicious food, soothing tones of crystal bowls and gentle reiki heal and nourish you through and through.
Permission to pause — This retreat is as much about self-care as it is about meditation. Think of it as a mini getaway for your mind.
You’ll leave with:
A few favorite practices that feel natural and supportive
A better understanding of what meditation actually is (and what it’s not)
A deeper sense of ease, clarity, and connection
A spark to continue exploring—on your own terms
Meet your retreat hosts
"Get curious not furious" is one of Amelia Andaleon's mottos. She credits meditation and yoga for bringing out the softer, calmer, kinder version of herself. Decades of operating as a high-achiever in a demanding, fast-paced corporate career, eventually led to burnout and chronic fatigue syndrome. The word "YOGA", written on a prescription pad by her naturopath, pointed her towards yoga and her path to teaching.
Amelia has been leading yoga and meditations since 2012, and she's been practicing yoga since 1986. She weaves yoga philosophy and stories into her classes, as well as creates time in silence for students to create their sacred space.
Amelia leads 200hr yoga teacher trainings (YTT), through Spiritually Fit Yoga, her Registered Yoga School (RYS). She hosts international yoga retreats, and offers yoga, meditation, reiki, and sound baths in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is also a publisher on the Insight Timer meditation app.
Amelia has deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, strong ancestral connections to her filipino culture, loves nature, her family & dog, and embodies the spirit of an adventurous, travel-loving Sagittarius.
Hannah Knapp has been meditating since 2012, when she dove in head-first with a 10-day Vipassana retreat. It was during that retreat that she realized she was ready for the adventure of pregnancy and parenting. Coming out of that experience, she knew she needed a community to practice with: there was just nothing like meditating with other people. Her passion for sharing the power of mindfulness has led her to launch (and lead) group meditations wherever she’s worked, and to start WITHIN Meditation. Through mindfulness, she’s developed a deep resilience, focus, and capacity to love that she draws on every day, both as the mom of two children and as a start-up founder.
