EMBASSY Gallery - Members' Crit (January)

EMBASSY Gallery are hosting a series of monthly Members' Crits in 2026. These events will give EMBASSY members a chance to share artworks, completed or in progress, with other artists and gather responses and constructive feedback. There will be 5 spaces to present each session, and the presenting artists can decide on the kind of feedback they would find useful. Ideally, participants would present physical works if they are able to transport them to the space, but you would also be welcome to share images or videos of artworks or just bring along the ideas you are working with for an upcoming piece. Each participant will have 20 minutes of discussion centred on their chosen artwork(s). Any media is accepted but we ask that durational works are no longer than 5 minutes to allow time for everyone else - if you are working with video, consider attending Neighbourhood Watch, our monthly sessions for sharing moving image work and its inspirations.

We'll begin at 6:30PM with a short introduction, with artists presenting at 6:40, 7:00, 7:20, 7:40, & 8:00. Even though your slot will only be 20 minutes, it is important that you stay for the whole session (or as long as you can) so everyone can receive feedback.

Members' Crits are only open to EMBASSY Members! You can become a member for as little as £2 a year by looking for the Membership section on our website or by following the link here. Make sure your subscription is active before reserving a space (if you are unsure, do get in touch to confirm). Members are an essential part of EMBASSY's mission to cultivate emerging contemporary art in Edinburgh and by signing up you will be supporting us to continue our programme. Becoming a member is a great way to meet other artists and art workers in Edinburgh and a yearly subscriptions means you'll be eligible for specific opportunities and events. This event is in person and takes place in our space at 7 Ferry Road, Edinburgh, EH6 4AD. It is important to only book a ticket if you are sure you can make it as spaces are very limited. If you have a space reserved but can no longer attend, please get in touch with us and cancel your booking so that we can offer your space to someone else - we can always try to reserve a spot for you at a future session.

A crit is an educational method where artists present their work to an audience of their peers to gain feedback on their developing artwork and to learn how it is being interpreted. (Definition adapted from Q-Art)
