About the Forum

Over the past year, the PRET Partnership's Lived Experience Community of Practice (LE CoP) has explored what it means to genuinely centre lived experience in the primary prevention of gender-based violence. This forum provides an opportunity to reflect on those learnings, examine the challenges and opportunities that remain, and identify the collective actions needed to move this work forward.

Building on the foundations established through the Aligning the Personal to the Professional Conference (2022), the Embedding Lived Experience Forum (2023) and the PRET Lived Experience Framework Launch (2024), this event invites PRET partners to engage in critical conversations about organisational readiness, power, participation, resourcing and meaningful change.

Together, we will explore how lived experience can be embedded more effectively across prevention initiatives and organisations, and what capability-building is required to support this work across the Partnership.

What to Expect

Participants will:

• Explore the PRET Lived Experience Framework and its principles for best practice

• Hear directly from members of the Lived Experience Community of Practice about the barriers and enablers they have encountered

• Participate in facilitated discussions examining organisational readiness and capability needs

• Contribute to identifying systemic, structural and practice-level challenges

• Help shape future Partnership priorities and pathways for action

• Make commitments to support the ongoing embedding of lived experience within prevention work

The forum will feature:

• A framework overview and reflection on key learnings from the past year

• A lived experience panel discussion

• Participant-led Open Space conversations based on a real-world case study

• Collective commitment-making and action planning

This forum is intended for PRET partner organisations, particularly leaders with the ability to influence organisational practice and change, including:

• Coordinators

• Managers

• Directors

• People and Culture professionals

• Strategic leaders and decision-makers

This forum will support participants to:

• Better understand the distinction and relationship between lived experience in prevention and response settings

• Assess where their organisation sits on the PRET Lived Experience Framework's Organisational Readiness spectrum

• Identify opportunities to strengthen capability and capacity across the sector

• Contribute to the future direction of the PRET Partnership's lived experience work

• Build collective accountability for embedding lived experience in primary prevention

The event will also introduce emerging workforce development opportunities, including the WHISE-Chisholm-BPIFVP lived experience micro-credential currently under development.
