Ensuring children come first: embedding the national principles for child safe organisation!
Event description
This face-to-face workshop is essential for all Approved Providers, Nominated Supervisors, Co-ordinators, Directors, and Educators from all service types (LDC, FDC, OSHC and preschools) to support understanding and implementation of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
Services will have the opportunity to unpack the 10 National Principles and discover what each principle could look like in practice. We will unpack ideas and suggestions to implement and reflect on some of these principles, and link our learning to the National Law and Regulations, National Quality Standards, Rights of the Child, and Code of Ethics.
This workshop is more than understanding your child protection responsibilities as a mandatory report. We will delve deeper ensuring your service develops an ongoing commitment for child safety and ongoing reflection on child-safe practices.
The principles will guide your everyday practice to ensure the safety of all children and ensure that children are the first priority when making any decisions.
Some topics of discussion will include:
1. Social media.
2. Photo and video taking.
3. Recruitment and induction processes.
4. Grievance procedures are child-focused.
5. Ideas of ensuring children have a voice and feel a strong sense of belonging in your service.
6. Cultural awareness and respect.
7. Policies and procedure review from a child safety lens.
8. Ongoing professional development and learning that supports child safe decision-making and reflection.
